Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 3 medium Jalapeños Adds heat and flavor; substitute with other mild peppers for less spice.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Enhances roasting for jalapeños; any cooking oil can be used.
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese Provides creaminess and depth; substitute with ricotta or goat cheese for a different taste.
  • 1 clove Garlic Adds aromatic flavor; use garlic powder as a substitute if fresh is unavailable.
  • 1 pinch Black Pepper For seasoning; can be omitted if sensitive to spice.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder With a milder flavor; can replace with fresh onion, but adjust quantity.
For the Cheeses
  • 1 cup Mild Cheddar Cheese Melts well and adds rich flavor; substitute with any cheese of choice, such as mozzarella.
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese Offers creaminess and extra melt; Swiss or gouda can be used as alternatives.
  • 4 strips Bacon Adds savory, smoky flavor; can use turkey bacon or omit for vegetarian version.
For the Bread
  • 4 slices Bread Provides the structure; use whole grain or gluten-free options for dietary needs.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Adds richness and helps brown the bread; margarine can be substituted for a dairy-free option.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush the medium jalapeños lightly with olive oil. Place them in the preheated air fryer and cook for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, grated garlic, black pepper, and onion powder until smooth.
  4. Chop the cooled jalapeños finely and fold them into the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Butter one side of a slice of bread and spread half of the cream cheese mixture on the unbuttered side. Layer on bacon strips, followed by mild cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Top with another slice of bread, buttering the outside.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from skillet, let rest for a minute, then slice and serve immediately.
