Step-by-Step Instructions for Red White and Blue Muddy Buddies
  1. Begin by dividing the 6 cups of Chex cereal into three medium bowls, placing 2 cups in each.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the 1 cup of red candy melts. Heat at half power for 30 seconds, stirring between intervals until smooth.
  3. Pour the melted red candy over the first bowl of Chex cereal and stir gently to coat evenly.
  4. Transfer the coated red cereal to a gallon ziplock bag, add 1/3 cup of powdered sugar, seal, and shake until coated.
  5. Pour the sugary red cereal onto a lined cookie sheet and spread it into an even layer to cool.
  6. Repeat the process with the blue and white candy melts, shaking with powdered sugar each time.
