  • 1 box Penne Or any favorite pasta shape
  • 1 cup Gluten-free Pasta If needed
For the Ragù Sauce
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Or turkey
  • 1 cup Chopped Onions
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 can Canned Tomatoes High-quality
  • 1 tbsp Italian Herbs Oregano and basil
For the Béchamel Sauce
  • 4 tbsp Butter Or olive oil
  • 3 tbsp Flour Can substitute with cornstarch
  • 2 cups Milk Almond or oat milk can be used
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Grated Parmigiano Cheese For a crispy crust
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Optional for extra creaminess

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 370°F (190°C) and grease a medium-sized baking dish.
  2. Spread a generous layer of Béchamel sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Cook pasta in boiling salted water until al dente, about 2 minutes less than package instructions. Drain and mix with Ragù sauce.
  4. If using, fold in shredded Mozzarella into the pasta and Ragù mixture.
  5. Pour half of the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish, followed by a layer of Béchamel sauce.
  6. Spread the remaining pasta mixture on top, then finish with the rest of the Béchamel and sprinkle with Parmigiano cheese.
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes until bubbling and golden brown. Use the broiler for a crispier finish if desired.
  8. Let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
