Method
 

Preparation and Mixing
  1. Start by greasing a baking sheet or lining it with parchment paper. Dust the surface lightly with powdered sugar.
  2. In a medium saucepan, mix together granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water, Kool-Aid drink mix, and salt. Stir thoroughly.
Cooking
  1. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook while stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Increase the heat and allow the mixture to come to a boil without stirring. Monitor the temperature to reach 240°F.
  3. Once at 240°F, remove from heat and stir in unsalted butter until melted.
Cooling and Kneading
  1. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until cool enough to handle.
  2. Grease your hands with butter and knead the taffy for about 5-10 minutes.
Shaping and Storing
  1. Shape the taffy into a log or cut into pieces. Sprinkle powdered sugar on the surface to prevent sticking.
  2. Wrap each piece in wax paper or cellophane to keep fresh.
