Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the grated onion, ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, heavy cream, and egg. Mix gently until just combined. Shape into four patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
- In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed, and sauté 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1/4 cup of finely diced onion for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and cook for another minute.
- Gradually pour in 1 cup of low sodium chicken broth, stirring continuously. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh dill. Simmer for another 1-2 minutes then return the cooked patties to the skillet.
- Plate the hamburger steaks with a generous serving of creamy dill sauce over the top and serve with mashed potatoes or a salad.
