  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef (80/20) Ground turkey can be used for a leaner alternative.
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs Panko yields a lighter texture.
  • 2 large Eggs Flax eggs work for a vegan version.
  • 1 cup Whole milk Can substitute with almond milk or chicken broth.
  • 1 tbsp Salt Adjust to personal taste.
  • 0.5 tbsp Black pepper Adjust to personal taste.
  • 1 tbsp Onion powder Fresh herbs can be used as alternatives.
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder Fresh herbs can be used as alternatives.
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning Fresh herbs can be used as alternatives.
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup BBQ sauce or salsa can also work.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Soy sauce serves as a good alternative.
  • 0.25 cup Chopped fresh parsley Dried parsley can also be used.
For the Glaze
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar Honey or maple syrup makes for a sweet twist.
  • 0.5 cup Remaining ketchup Feel free to switch it up with your favorite sauce.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, spraying it with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté diced yellow onion for 5-7 minutes until tender and slightly browned.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onions, bread crumbs, eggs, whole milk, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, half the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and chopped parsley.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Mix the remaining ketchup with brown sugar to prepare the glaze.
  6. Spread the glaze over the meatloaf and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and garnish with parsley.
