Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour and salt. Mix until a sticky dough forms, then knead for 5-6 minutes with a stand mixer, or 8-10 minutes by hand, until smooth.
- Lightly coat the dough with extra virgin olive oil and cover with a towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
- Grease a baking pan with olive oil. In a small saucepan, gently heat olive oil with minced garlic over low heat for about 1 minute until fragrant. Let cool.
- Transfer the risen dough to the greased pan and stretch into corners. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes, then let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Dimple the surface of the dough, brush with garlic oil, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
