Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add all-purpose flour and salt. Mix until a sticky dough forms, then knead for 5-6 minutes with a stand mixer, or 8-10 minutes by hand, until smooth.
  3. Lightly coat the dough with extra virgin olive oil and cover with a towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
  4. Grease a baking pan with olive oil. In a small saucepan, gently heat olive oil with minced garlic over low heat for about 1 minute until fragrant. Let cool.
  5. Transfer the risen dough to the greased pan and stretch into corners. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes, then let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Dimple the surface of the dough, brush with garlic oil, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven, allow to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
