  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream or dairy-free cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract preferably pure
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest or lime zest as alternative

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash the fresh strawberries under cool running water and remove the green tops. Slice the strawberries into even pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Gradually add the heavy whipping cream and continue mixing until stiff peaks form.
  3. Spread the cream mixture evenly over 8 slices of bread. Arrange the sliced strawberries on half of the slices and top with more cream before placing the other slices on top.
  4. Score a line in the middle of the sandwiches with a knife, wrap them tightly, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Cut the sandwiches diagonally along the pre-scored line, and serve arranged on a platter.
