- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather all your ingredients and equipment.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat for 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Sauté chopped onion in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic for another minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 30 minutes.
- Mix ricotta cheese, large egg, shredded mozzarella, and half of the grated Parmesan in a bowl until combined.
- In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, more sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat, finishing with sauce and remaining cheeses.
- Cover lasagna with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley if desired.
