Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the cinnamon roll base by flattening half of the rolls and baking for about 10 minutes.
- Make the cream cheese mixture by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth, then fold in whipped topping.
- Combine apple pie filling with cinnamon and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
- Layer half of the spiced apple filling over the cinnamon roll base, then dollop half of the cream cheese mixture on top.
- Repeat layering with remaining apple filling and cream cheese mixture.
- Finish with the other half of the cinnamon rolls arranged on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let cool slightly, then drizzle icing and caramel sauce before serving.
- Slice and enjoy warm or chilled, possibly with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
