Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are a delicious and hearty dish made with tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory mixture of ground beef, pork, and rice, all topped with a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves one at a time, boiling each for 1–2 minutes until softened. Drain and let cool.
  2. Make the filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.
  3. Make the sauce: In a bowl, combine tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and beef broth.
  4. Roll the cabbage: Place about ¼ cup filling near the bottom of each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll tightly.
  5. Arrange: Spread a little sauce in the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch baking dish. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down and pour the remaining sauce over the top.
  6. Bake: Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour 30 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked and the cabbage is tender.
  7. Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Spoon extra tomato sauce over each roll.
