Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs (680 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 12 oz (340 g) lo mein noodles, ramen noodles, or spaghetti
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Drain and toss with 1 teaspoon sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Toss the chicken with the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sriracha (if using). In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to make a slurry. Stir it into the sauce.
  4. In the same skillet, add the bell pepper, broccoli, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Add the cooked noodles. Pour the sticky garlic sauce over everything. Toss continuously for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken and noodles evenly.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds, sliced green onions, and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes
