  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and chicken broth until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork in the slow cooker, ensuring the pork is well coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
