Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large French bread loaf, halved lengthwise
  • ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 oz (225 g) jumbo lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (480 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1 cup (100 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup (55 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1½ cups (170 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges (optional)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the softened butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and Parmesan cheese. Spread evenly over both halves of the French bread. Bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly toasted.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with the Old Bay seasoning, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Cook the shrimp for 2–3 minutes, just until pink. Gently fold in the crab meat and cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat.
  4. Melt the butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk until smooth. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in the Parmesan, mozzarella, and nutmeg (if using) until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Fold the cooked shrimp and crab into the Alfredo sauce.
  5. Spoon the seafood Alfredo mixture evenly over the toasted garlic bread. Sprinkle with the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Broil for the final 2 minutes for a golden, lightly browned top.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley, chives, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if desired. Slice into portions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the seafood mixture.
  • Ensure the crab meat is free of shells for the best texture.
  • Serve with lemon wedges for added freshness.
