A savory dish of sautéed mushrooms cooked with garlic and herbs, perfect as a side or topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces fresh button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted and hot.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes until they start to brown.
  3. Stir the mushrooms and continue to sauté for another 3-4 minutes until they are tender and golden brown.
  4. Add the minced garlic and thyme to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar during the last minute of cooking.
  • Try using different types of mushrooms, such as cremini or shiitake, for a unique taste and texture.
