- 8 ounces fresh button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted and hot.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes until they start to brown.
- Stir the mushrooms and continue to sauté for another 3-4 minutes until they are tender and golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and thyme to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar during the last minute of cooking.
- Try using different types of mushrooms, such as cremini or shiitake, for a unique taste and texture.
