Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces of pasta (penne or fettuccine)
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Add the heavy cream and Italian seasoning, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the cooked pasta until well coated with the sauce.
Remove from heat and mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
Add vegetables such as spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers to the sauce for extra flavor and nutrition. Sauté them with the onions and garlic before adding the beef.
