A delicious and easy recipe for a gluten-free Flying Dutchman burger, perfect for those looking for a low-carb meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (for wrapping)
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickles
  • Mustard and mayonnaise (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves, tomato slices, avocado slices, and pickles.
  5. Once the burgers are done, assemble each burger by placing a patty on a lettuce leaf, topping it with tomato, avocado, pickles, mustard, and mayonnaise. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy!

Notes

  • For added flavor, try mixing in some chopped onions or jalapeños into the beef mixture before forming the patties.
  • If you prefer a spicy kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the mayonnaise or use pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar.
