Ingredients
Scale
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6–8 oz each)
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
½ cup ranch dressing
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup crispy fried onions
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
In a small bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, and optional Worcestershire sauce. Stir until smooth.
Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
Pour the BBQ ranch mixture over the chicken, spreading it evenly so each piece is well coated.
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken, followed by the crispy fried onions.
Return the dish to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, until the cheese is melted, the onions are golden, and the thickest part of each chicken breast reaches 165°F.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired, and spoon some of the sauce from the baking dish over each piece.
Notes
Choose similarly sized chicken breasts for even cooking.
Add crispy fried onions toward the end of baking to avoid burning.
Combine cheddar with Monterey Jack or mozzarella for extra cheesiness.
Use spicy BBQ sauce or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat.
Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
