Low Carb Loaded Cabbage Steaks With Rich Butter Bacon Blend are a savory delight!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large green cabbage heads
  • 8 ounces bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and slice each head into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 4-6 steaks from each cabbage head.
  3. Arrange the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet. Brush both sides with melted butter and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Bake the cabbage steaks in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are tender and slightly browned.
  5. While the cabbage is baking, cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, reserving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.
  6. Add the remaining butter to the skillet with the bacon grease and melt over low heat. Stir in the cooked bacon and mix well.
  7. Once the cabbage steaks are done, remove them from the oven and top each steak with a generous spoonful of the butter bacon blend, followed by a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the butter bacon blend.
  • Try using different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or mozzarella, for a unique flavor twist.
