A delicious and hearty meatloaf made with ground beef, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese, topped with ketchup for a delightful flavor.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup additional ketchup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped mushrooms, shredded Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, 1/4 cup ketchup, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  4. Spread the additional 1/2 cup of ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • Add chopped fresh herbs like parsley or basil for extra flavor and freshness.
