Deliciously tangy lemon brownies topped with a creamy glaze, perfect for any dessert lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
  10. While the brownies are cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl until smooth.
  11. Once the brownies have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top.
  12. Allow the glaze to set for about 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the batter.
  • You can substitute the lemon juice with lime juice for a different citrus twist.
  • For a fun texture, fold in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts or white chocolate chips before baking.
