In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside half of the marinade for later use.
Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the remaining marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the used marinade.
Cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the chicken is golden brown.
Brush the reserved marinade over the chicken during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve.
Notes
For a smoky flavor, try grilling the chicken on a charcoal grill instead of using a skillet.
Add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli to the grill for a complete meal; toss them in the remaining marinade for extra flavor.
