A delicious recipe for Honey Garlic Chicken Bites that combines tender chicken pieces with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the chicken with the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer. Cook for 4–5 minutes, then turn and cook another 3–4 minutes, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Transfer the chicken to a plate.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ketchup, and ginger. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with the cold water to make a slurry.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the same skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss until every piece is coated in the glossy sauce. Cook for 1–2 minutes more.
  5. Garnish with the sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and parsley if desired. Serve with steamed jasmine rice, brown rice, fried rice, lo mein or rice noodles, and steamed broccoli, green beans, or snap peas.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs stay extra juicy, while chicken breasts are a leaner option.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan so the chicken browns instead of steaming.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, or zucchini during the last few minutes of cooking for a complete one-pan meal.
  • For a spicy kick, add 1 teaspoon sriracha, ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce to the honey garlic sauce.
