A creamy, cheesy twist on classic lasagna! Layers of tender lasagna noodles, savory ham, creamy white sauce, and gooey melted cheese come together in this comforting family-friendly bake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 400 g cooked ham, thinly sliced or chopped
  • 250 g ricotta cheese
  • 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 60 g unsalted butter
  • 60 g all-purpose flour
  • 720 ml milk
  • 120 ml heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream until smooth.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook for 4–6 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens.
  5. In a bowl, combine the ricotta, 100 g mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.
  6. Lightly grease a 23 × 33 cm baking dish. Spread a little creamy sauce over the bottom. Add a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by ham, cheese mixture, and more sauce.
  7. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles, sauce, and the remaining mozzarella.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbling.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Add 150 g cooked spinach for a delicious spinach-and-ham version.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or broccoli.
  • Replace some of the mozzarella with Gruyère or Swiss cheese.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Don’t make the white sauce too thick—it should be slightly loose before baking because the noodles will absorb some of the sauce.
