A delicious recipe for Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes, featuring tender steak pieces and flavorful baby potatoes tossed in a rich garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 680 g sirloin steak, ribeye, or strip steak, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 600 g baby potatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 60 g unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 60 ml beef broth

Instructions

  1. Prepare the potatoes: Toss the halved baby potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and almost tender. Remove and set aside.
  3. Season the steak: Pat the steak pieces dry and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to the same skillet. Increase the heat to high and add the steak in a single layer. Sear for 2–3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove the steak from the pan.
  5. Make the garlic butter: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and minced garlic. Cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Stir and scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Return the potatoes to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for 2–3 minutes until completely tender.
  8. Return the steak to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook for another 1–2 minutes so the steak gets coated with the buttery sauce.
  9. Remove from heat and sprinkle generously with fresh parsley and rosemary or thyme.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes.
  • Feel free to substitute the steak with your preferred cut.
  • Fresh herbs can be adjusted based on your taste.
