Crispy Oven-Fried Feta Rolls with Chili Honey are divine!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package (8 ounces) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled feta, ricotta cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with more butter.
  4. Cut the layered phyllo dough into 4 equal strips. Place a tablespoon of the cheese mixture at one end of each strip.
  5. Fold the sides of the phyllo over the filling and roll it up tightly to form a roll. Place the rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls with additional melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. While the rolls are baking, prepare the chili honey by combining honey and red chili flakes in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until warmed through and well mixed.
  8. Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the chili honey over the rolls and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, add chopped spinach or sun-dried tomatoes to the cheese mixture.
  • Experiment with different herbs like thyme or basil for a unique flavor twist.
