Crispy Orange Chicken Wings are a delicious and irresistible appetizer, perfect for any gathering or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed if possible)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and vegetable oil until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. While the wings are baking, prepare the orange sauce by combining orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth, then add to the saucepan and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Once the wings are done baking, toss them in the orange sauce until well coated.
  7. Return the sauced wings to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the wings in the seasoning for at least an hour or overnight before baking.
  • Try adding a splash of sriracha to the orange sauce for a spicy kick.
