- 1 lb mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional
- Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and most of their moisture has evaporated.
- Add the garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds, until fragrant.
- Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until melted and creamy.
- Add lemon juice if desired and adjust the seasoning.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
