Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces of sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)
4 slices of bacon, chopped
3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup of heavy cream
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until they are golden brown and tender.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the crispy bacon back into the skillet and stir to combine.
Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
Add spinach or kale for extra nutrients and color.
