Deliciously soft and festive cookies perfect for Christmas celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
  • Red and green sprinkles (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract, almond extract, and egg until fully combined.
  6. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
  7. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  8. Once chilled, use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion out the dough. Roll each portion into a ball and then roll it in powdered sugar to coat.
  9. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. If desired, sprinkle with red and green sprinkles while still warm for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding 1/2 cup of chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the dough.
  • You can also substitute the almond extract with peppermint extract for a holiday twist.
