A quick and delicious Chinese Beef and Snow Pea Stir-Fry that combines tender beef with crisp snow peas in a flavorful sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cups snow peas
  • ½ small onion, sliced
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms, optional
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Toss the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add garlic and ginger to the same pan and cook for about 30 seconds.
  5. Add onion, snow peas, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, keeping the snow peas crisp.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce.
  7. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
  8. Serve hot over steamed white rice.

Notes

  • Slice the beef very thinly and against the grain for that tender, restaurant-style texture.
