Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large loaf French bread
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add the onion and cook for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and water.
  5. Simmer for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and saucy.
  6. Slice the French bread lengthwise and place it cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  7. Mix the softened butter, garlic, parsley, and Italian seasoning. Spread evenly over the bread.
  8. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the garlic bread.
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan generously over the top.
  10. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. For a crispier, golden top, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.
  12. Let rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.

Notes
