- 1½ lbs ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package directions
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup diced dill pickles
- ¼ cup finely diced red onion
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and onion. Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking up the beef, until browned.
- Drain excess grease. Add garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
- For the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the cheddar, Monterey Jack, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of cheese sauce in the bottom of the baking dish.
- Add a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by half of the beef mixture, some diced pickles and red onion, and a layer of cheese sauce.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining cheese sauce, cheddar, and mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with extra pickles and diced red onion before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
