Bourbon Mushrooms are a savory and flavorful dish made with fresh button mushrooms sautéed in a rich bourbon sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces fresh button mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat until melted and hot.
  2. Add the cleaned mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Carefully pour in the bourbon, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine and allow the mixture to simmer for about 3-4 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced slightly.
  5. Season with black pepper and salt, stirring well to incorporate.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic.
  • Substitute the button mushrooms with cremini or shiitake mushrooms for a deeper flavor profile.
