A simple and delicious recipe for homemade blueberry jam that captures the essence of fresh blueberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. If using, add the ground cinnamon for extra flavor.
  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries start to release their juices, about 5 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the jam thickens, about 10-15 minutes. You can test the consistency by placing a small spoonful on a plate and letting it cool for a minute; if it holds its shape, it’s ready.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool for about 10 minutes.
  5. Pour the jam into sterilized jars while still warm, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Seal the jars with lids.
  6. Allow the jam to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

  • For a smoother jam, blend the blueberries before cooking or use an immersion blender after cooking to achieve your desired consistency.
  • Experiment with adding other fruits like raspberries or strawberries for a mixed berry jam.
