A deliciously gooey coffee caramel dessert that combines rich flavors and a delightful texture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and cooled brewed coffee until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, then sprinkle the chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the remaining batter over the caramel layer and spread it gently. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the batter.
  • For a nutty twist, fold in 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
