- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and cooled brewed coffee until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, then sprinkle the chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the remaining batter over the caramel layer and spread it gently. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the batter.
- For a nutty twist, fold in 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
