A delicious and unique grilled cheese sandwich featuring the sweet flavors of pear and fig, combined with savory bacon and creamy cheeses.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of whole grain bread
  • 8 ounces of sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 4 ounces of creamy goat cheese, softened
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of 4 slices of bread, layer the cheddar cheese, goat cheese, chopped bacon, pear slices, and fig jam.
  4. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before slicing in half.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of hot honey inside the sandwich.
  • Substitute the pear with sliced apples or peaches for a different flavor profile.
