Delicious whiskey-glazed chicken strips coated in sesame seeds, perfect for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the whiskey, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Reserve 1/4 cup of the marinade for later use. Add the chicken strips to the remaining marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  2. After marinating, remove the chicken strips from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Place the cornstarch in a shallow dish and coat each chicken strip evenly with cornstarch.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken strips in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the reserved marinade. Bring it to a simmer and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  5. Return the chicken strips to the skillet and toss them in the whiskey glaze until well coated. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • Serve the chicken strips over steamed rice or with a side of stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
