Ingredients
Scale
1 can (12 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 cup diced bell pepper
1 large egg
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, onion, bell pepper, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. You should have about 6 patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or some chopped jalapeños to the mixture.
Serve the patties on toasted hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato, and additional cheese for a delicious tuna melt sandwich.
