Ingredients
Scale
1 can (5 ounces) tuna, drained
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4 cup diced celery
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices of bread (your choice, such as sourdough or whole wheat)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, diced celery, diced red onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
Spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
Notes
For a healthier option, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
Add sliced tomatoes or pickles inside the sandwich for extra flavor and crunch.
