A delicious and spicy twist on the classic burger, featuring jalapeños and creamy cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 slices of pepper jack cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup fresh jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for cooking
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and set aside.
  2. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of vegetable oil.
  3. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Form each portion into a loose ball without packing it too tightly.
  4. Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to create a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until a nice crust forms on the bottom.
  5. Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of the cream cheese mixture on the bottom half of each bun. Top with the smashed burger patty, sliced jalapeños, and fresh cilantro if desired. Place the top half of the bun on and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add crispy bacon bits to the burger before serving.
  • Try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar or gouda, for a unique flavor twist.
