- 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, chopped jalapeño, garlic powder, and lime juice until well combined.
- Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the fillets and season with salt and black pepper.
- Brush the maple jalapeño glaze generously over the salmon fillets, reserving some glaze for later.
- Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked to your desired doneness.
- In the last 2 minutes of baking, brush the reserved glaze over the salmon for an extra layer of flavor.
- Remove from the oven and let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika to the glaze.
- Serve the salmon over a bed of rice or quinoa to soak up the delicious glaze.
