Ingredients
Scale
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
Place the steak cubes in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over the steak. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off, and add the steak to the skillet in a single layer.
Cook the steak bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and coats the steak bites.
Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha or your favorite hot sauce to the marinade.
Serve the steak bites over rice or with toothpicks as an appetizer for parties.
