A delicious twist on a classic dish, Southern Style Cheeseburger Pie combines ground beef, cheese, and a savory custard filling baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Stir in the cooked beef and onion mixture, diced tomatoes, chopped pickles, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try mixing in some cooked bacon bits or jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • You can also substitute the cheddar cheese with pepper jack or mozzarella for a different taste.
  • Serve with a side salad or coleslaw for a complete meal.
