Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
8 slices of rye bread
4 slices of Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise (for special sauce)
2 tablespoons ketchup (for special sauce)
1 tablespoon yellow mustard (for special sauce)
1 tablespoon dill pickle relish (for special sauce)
1 teaspoon garlic powder (for special sauce)
1 teaspoon onion powder (for special sauce)
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined, then divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
While the patties are cooking, mix together all the special sauce ingredients in a separate bowl until smooth and well combined.
In another skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Assemble the sandwiches by spreading the special sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread. Place a patty with melted cheese on one slice, then top with another slice of bread, sauce side down.
Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the special sauce.
Try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar or pepper jack, for a unique flavor twist.
