Sausage Mushroom Pasta in Creamy Sauce is a delicious and comforting dish that combines savory Italian sausage, tender mushrooms, and a rich creamy sauce, perfect for any pasta lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces fettuccine or pasta of choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for another 4-5 minutes until they are tender.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, mixing until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Add spinach or kale to the skillet in the last few minutes of cooking for extra nutrients and color.
