  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add the flour and cinnamon, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  8. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Spread the brown sugar mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if using.
  10. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  11. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  12. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the buns and sprinkle with sea salt.
  13. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  14. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
