Ingredients
Scale
4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan and stir well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki glaze over them. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, turning occasionally.
If grilling, place the salmon skin-side down on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, brushing with the remaining glaze. If baking, place the salmon on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, brushing with glaze halfway through.
Once cooked, remove the salmon from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Drizzle with any remaining glaze and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
Substitute the salmon with chicken breasts or tofu for a different protein option. Adjust cooking times accordingly.
