1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings)
¼ cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt.
In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and olive oil. Mix well.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices.
Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little olive oil.
Pour about ½ cup of the batter onto the center of the preheated waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and cooked through.
Carefully remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour.
You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the batter for extra flavor and nutrition.
