Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
4 hamburger buns
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
During the last minute of cooking, spoon 1/4 cup of pizza sauce over each patty, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese and sliced pepperoni. Cover to melt the cheese.
While the cheese is melting, brush the insides of the hamburger buns with olive oil and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers by placing each cheesy patty on the bottom half of a bun. Add additional pizza sauce if desired, then top with fresh basil leaves and the top half of the bun.
Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious pizza burgers!
Notes
For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the pizza sauce.
Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, and use low-fat cheese to reduce calories.
